OUR WHY

Khanum’s Care was born from something deeply personal.

I grew up in a Bangladeshi immigrant family in London. My parents were garment workers who worked incredibly hard so their children could have opportunities they never had. I’ve seen first hand what dignity, education and opportunity can do for a family.

As Khanum’s grew, I realised something important: fashion has the power to do more than just create beautiful clothing. It can create opportunity. It can create independence. It can create change. Just like it has for me.

So Khanum’s Care is the extension of that belief.

This work is rooted in my connection to Bangladesh, where many of our cultural roots come from, and where so many communities still face poverty, lack of education and limited opportunities, especially for women and girls. Our mission is simple: to use our platform, resources and community to create meaningful, long-term change.

Not charity for the sake of optics. Real support that restores independence and opportunity.

From funding education for young girls, to helping women access safer employment, to supporting villages with food, water and infrastructure - every initiative is grounded in the belief that people don’t need saving, they need opportunity.

And when women are given opportunities, entire communities change.

Khanum’s Care exists to be part of that change.

At Khanum’s Care, we believe that acts of care, kindness, and compassion can change the world. One person, one village, one future at a time. Our mission is to tackle systemic poverty and social injustice by supporting grassroots initiatives that restore dignity, expand opportunity, and create lasting change in underserved communities.

PILLARS OF IMPACT

THE FIRST STEP IS MEETING IMMEDIATE NEEDS WHILE BUILDING TRUS WITH THE COMMUNITIES WE SUPPORT.

This includes supporting education, nourishment and opportunity for young people who deserve a fair start in life. Some of our initiatives include:

• Partnering with the Bangladesh Education Trust to support doorstep learning programmes and micro-scholarships for children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to education.

• Supporting Mulberry School for Girls, the school I attended, by providing prom dresses for underprivileged students so they could celebrate a milestone with confidence and pride.

• Mentoring young creatives through the Fashion Retail Academy, giving students access to industry insight and opportunities that I wish I had when I started.

This phase is about planting the seeds - helping people feel supported, seen and hopeful.

TRUE CHANGE HAPPENS WHEN COMMUNITIES ARE ABLE TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES.

In this phase, we focus on initiatives that improve everyday living conditions and create long-term stability.

Our work includes:

• Installing clean water wells and supporting local agriculture to improve health, sanitation and food security.

• Distributing clothing and essential goods to families facing hardship.

• Partnering with organisations such as FoodCycle in the UK to redirect surplus food to people who need it most while reducing waste.

These projects focus on dignity in daily life - because basic needs should never be a privilege.

OUR LONG-TERM VISION IS ABOUT INDEPENDENCE, EMPLOYMENT AND OPPORTUNITY.

One of the initiatives closest to my heart is Project Khanum’s.

In Bangladesh, many women are trapped in forced sex work - not by choice, but because of trafficking, poverty or lack of alternatives. Through Project Khanum’s, we are working to change that.

In partnership with Pushpa and Give Bangladesh, we are supporting 72 women by providing:

• vocational training
• childcare support
• pathways into safe factory employment

Because I believe fashion should be a force for change.

Beyond this, we are also supporting women-led manufacturing initiatives and working to rebuild homes and infrastructure in vulnerable villages, particularly those affected by flooding.

This phase is about creating futures - not just relief.

OUR COMMITMENT

Khanum’s Care is not a campaign.

It is a long-term commitment to using the success of our business to create opportunities for others.

Every project is guided by three principles: dignity, transparency and community-led impact.

Because meaningful change happens when people are given the tools to build their own futures.

And if Khanum’s stands for empowering women through clothing, then Khanum’s Care exists to empower women in real life.
