Introducing Project Khanum's x Pushpa

At Khanum’s, giving back to the community isn’t just a responsibility, it’s part of who we are. Every initiative we support is rooted in creating opportunity, empowering lives, and restoring hope. At the end of last year, we were honoured to become part of an initiative that truly represents meaningful, long-term change.

MEET PUSHPA

Pushpa is a diaspora-led community dedicated to funding the economic growth of communities in Bangladesh. By connecting the Bangladeshi diaspora with carefully chosen projects, Pushpa helps create jobs, support local communities, and protect the planet, championing development that is both sustainable and deeply community-driven.

Pushpa approached us with a shared vision: to create something together that could extend this impact even further. From that conversation, Project Khanum’s was born. A collaborative initiative grounded in our mutual commitment to empowerment, community investment, and creating opportunities that have lasting meaning.

But Project Khanum’s is not an abstract idea. It is rooted in a person, a story, and a future we are working to help rebuild.

Rina was just eight years old when her life took a cruel turn. Her aunt brought her to Dhaka with promises of education but instead, she was sold to a brothel.

For years, Rina was trapped in forced sex work, stripped of the childhood and choices every child deserves. But she never lost hope. She found a way out, through sewing.

Rina taught herself the skills, worked in garment factories, and slowly built a life that was truly her own. Today, she runs the Mugda Training Centre in Dhaka, where she teaches hundreds of women the same skills that freed her: sewing, cutting, and nakshi kantha stitching. She helps them secure real jobs in garment factories and regain control over their lives.

“I am not ashamed of my past, it is what it is. None of us wanted to become sex workers. Either we were sold, or fooled by brokers.” - Rina

With support from Give Bangladesh, Rina has already transformed hundreds of lives and now, with our new charity project in collaboration with Pushpa, we are helping her reach hundreds more.

“These women represent every one of us. We have a responsibility to help these women have a choice again.” - Rokeya Khanum

Together, we can make sure no woman’s potential is lost to circumstance. Join us in supporting Rina and the women she empowers by donating below.
