This month at Khanum’s, we had the privilege of gifting prom dresses to seven incredible Year 11 students from Mulberry School for Girls. Each girl was invited to visit us and pick out the dress that made her feel most confident and beautiful. The energy in the room that day was full of excitement and emotion — not just because of the dresses themselves, but because each girl was celebrated and reminded of her worth.
But we didn’t want to stop there.
On the day of their prom, we surprised them with a full hair, makeup, and styling makeover, thanks to seven amazing artists who generously volunteered their time and talent to make each student feel her absolute best. For us, it’s about more than just getting ready — it’s about creating a moment where they could feel supported, empowered, and truly seen. It’s about showing up for each other in ways that build confidence and lasting memories.
Moments like these are the very heart of Khanum’s and a special project we’ve been working behind the scenes on. Our mission has always been to use fashion as a vehicle for compassion and community. Khanum’s will never be just about selling dresses.
Since returning from our recent trip to Bangladesh, we’ve felt a renewed sense of purpose to give back and build something with lasting impact. From school partnerships here in the UK to sustainable development projects in Bangladesh, everything we do is rooted in creating futures with compassion at the core.
We’re also proud to share that Rokeya Khanum has recently been selected as an official Ambassador for Mulberry School Girls - a reflection of her dedication to championing underrepresented voices in fashion and education. As a continuation of this mission, Khanum’s will now commit to annual prom dress donations for Mulberry School for Girls, ensuring that each year, more young women are celebrated, supported, and reminded of their power.
We cannot wait to share more of what we’re building behind the scenes as we continue to grow this mission together.
